Inspiration // Erte (Romain de Tirtoff)

In a few weeks time for my dissertation class we’re going to the Tate Print and Drawing Rooms and for that we are able to request a piece of artwork to look at while visiting. While searching for possible works to look at, I found this artist, Erte ( Romain de Tirtoff), a Russian born French artist and designer who worked with magazine illustrations and the like.

I came across his work Sapphire when looking for illustrations of mermaids to go with my dissertation topic and I thought it was gorgeous and liked the style of his other illustrations too. They all were striking and I love the use of flat colour and shape as well as the use of the figure in some of them.
